Grimes & Elon Musk Change Baby's Name to Comply With California Law

Grimes and Elon Musk have apparently changed their baby boy's unusual name to comply with California law.

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

In early May, the Tesla/Space-X founder and singer welcomed their first child together. The couple shocked the world when revealing the newborn's name as X Æ A-12. Things got even more complicated when it was learned that the difficult-to-pronounce moniker doesn't comply with laws in California, where the baby was presumably born.

On Sunday (May 24), one of Grimes' Instagram followers asked her if X Æ A-12's name had been changed because of California laws, which state that parents can only use the 26 characters of the English language to name their child.

"X Æ A-Xii," Grimes replied in the comments section. She added, "Roman numerals. Looks better tbh."

Days after welcoming his new baby boy, Musk appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast and explained how to say the child's name. He noted that "X" is pronounced like the letter and Æ sounds like "ash." Musk went on to add that A-12 was his idea. "Archangel 12, the precursor to the SR71, coolest plane ever," he explained.

The Space X boss also admitted that Grimes was actually the one who "mostly came up with the name... Yeah, she's great at names," he laughed.
