Singer Songwriter Shoilee Starts The Party With New Single Green

Singer and published novelist, Shoilee Banerjee otherwise known as Shoilee shares her latest single, Green.

Singer and published novelist, Shoilee Banerjee—otherwise known as Shoilee—shares her latest single, “Green.” This new single follows her previous two releases, “Blue” and “Indigo.”

“‘Green’ has a dance party vibe,” says Shoilee of her new hit. “It’s basically my interpretation of the color—like my other songs, ‘Indigo’ and ‘Blue’.” In “Green,” Shoilee speaks to money and partying, evoking a club vibe that is sure to start up the party.

“I had a lot of fun with this song because I wrote it with a former coworker who’s musically involved, too. We made the melody together, and then I wrote the lyrics and had a producer put it together,” tells Shoilee of the writing process. “I would say it’s honest. I feel comfortable with other people helping me with melodies, but the lyrics—I want them to be my own. I like putting a lot of thought and effort into it.”

A natural writer, Shoilee weaves her knack for storytelling into song and prose. The musician is also a published novelist with a book on mental health advocacy. “I was always performing other people’s music—writing your own is another challenge,” expresses Shoilee of converting her thoughts to sound. “When I get writer’s block, I get very annoyed at myself, so I’ll come back to it at another time. That’s how I always approach my writing—it’s important to come back to it and not stop fully.”

Immersed in music from a young age, Shoilee took part in her high school marching band as a clarinetist and received classical training in singing, earning her multiple awards and auditions over the years. “I’m one of those people that always has to be consuming music in some form. I love listening to other people’s songs and consuming other forms of media as well that evoke feeling.”

Massachusetts born and bred, Shoilee is the daughter of immigrant parents and offers a unique perspective in her songs that resonates with many listeners around the world. “When I was younger, I was involved in music but always had bad anxiety. Now I’m finally trying to break free from that and have fun.”

Also a scholar, Shoilee demonstrates the delicate balance of pursuing a medical degree while simultaneously fueling her passion for music.  “I’ve always wanted to be a doctor, but I don’t understand why that should stop me from doing what I like,” says Shoilee. “Wherever my music goes, I’ll go with it. I’m open, not close-minded.”
