Musgraves wanted to make her appearance on SNL a memorable one, and had some of her intimate backstage moments captured on black and white film. The photos see the singer surrounded by both friends and staff while covering her body in a towel, with one snap of her getting a touch up from a makeup artist, another of her hugging a man in what appears to be a dressing room, and the final image featuring Musgraves heading on stage. "SNL on film," she captured the images.
The "Justified" singer posted additional shots from her nude SNL performance to her Instagram account, along with a snap of Robin Wright as Jenny in Forrest Gump doing a very similar stunt while performing as "Bobbi Dylan" in the Oscar-winning 1994 film starring Tom Hanks. Musgraves' publicist confirmed that she was indeed naked while singing on stage. “She was nude,” the publicist told Variety. “Precautions were taken, and this was the first time it’s happened on the show.”
Musgraves later traded her birthday suit for her a flannel button down and jeans to perform the emotional "Camera Roll," which was also appears on her Star-Crossed album. See the behind-the-scenes snaps from Musgraves' time on SNL below.
