Jamie xx announces second show at Londons Alexandra Palace due to phenomenal demand

He'll showcase new album 'In Waves' in the capital this autumn

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

Jamie xx has announced a second London show for 2024 due to phenomenal demand. Find all the details below.

The DJ, producer and member of The xx is due to release his new solo album ‘In Waves’ on September 20 via Young, following on from his 2015 debut ‘In Colour’ (pre-order/pre-save here).

Last week, the artist shared details of a huge homecoming show at Alexandra Palace in London on Thursday September 26. The gig has since sold out, and another date and the same venue has been confirmed for the day before (Wednesday September 25).

Tickets for the additional show are on general sale now – you can buy yours here.

Before his return to London, Jamie xx will headline the Woodsies stage at Glastonbury Festival 2024 later this month.

He has previewed the forthcoming ‘In Waves’ with the single ‘Treat Each Other Right’.

In a statement about the record, Jamie xx explained: “My new album, ‘In Waves’, will be out on September 20. I am so unbelievably happy.

“It’s been a while…  and a lot has happened in that time. Ups and downs, growing up, figuring stuff out and then forgetting it all many times over. Life changing events and world changing events. These waves that we have all experienced together and alone.”

He continued: “I wanted to make something fun, joyful and introspective all at once. The best moments on a dance floor are usually that for me. I can’t wait to share it with you.”

His bandmate Romy talked about being back in the studio with The xx during an interview with NME earlier this year.

“[The xx have] been in the studio since I last spoke to NME and we’re in the studio again next week, so we’re meeting up regularly,” she explained at the time. “It’s been really good. I think we’ve all spent time apart and it’s healthy to miss each other.”

Romy added: “We’re just keeping it really open and we’re up for trying new things, but it sounds like us. That’s all I can say right now.

“We’ve learned a lot from our different solo projects and it’s cool to learn from each other again. We grew up together and we had a lot of experiences, but to then have time apart and learn new skills, get new musical ideas and experiences and compare them… it’s been a healthy break.”

The xx’s third and latest studio album, ‘I See You’, was released in 2017. Watch NME‘s recent video interview with Romy above.
